Competition announced by the Opera Romana for the Preservation of the Faith and the Provision of new churches in Rome

Collaboration with Lorenzo Jurina - structural engineer

The proposed project integrates all parish center activities into a single structure.
This approach not only addresses the various requirements outlined in the Competition Notice but also promotes a more interactive and collectively participatory parish life.
By compacting the building in this manner, it achieves a substantial scale, which is crucial to ensure it stands out within its surrounding neighborhood. The building's height reaches approximately 31 meters, compared to the 26 meters of the nearest structures.

The parish center is organized under a large vault, a convex roof that descends with its lowest point in the heart of the worship hall and its highest point at the main altar

Opposite the main altar, all the required functions are arranged vertically: catechism classrooms, clergy living quarters, and offices. These three levels connect with the expansive void of the worship hall, interacting with it like a grand orchestra—a reference to the traditional organ.

The roof of the hall opens towards the sky on the two highest sides. From these points two beams of light descend to illuminate the hall.

The intercommunication between the parish center and the outside is the main feature of the project at a time when the Church is looking for new ways to interact with the faithful and all citizens
